In the first podcast of 2016 we start the podcast by looking at Benfica’s first game of this year’s league cup against Nacional at Estadio da Luz. An ugly game with the desired effect, as Jimenez grabs the winner as the game closed out. Following the League Cup game Benfica was in action in the birth city against Guimaraes, a crucial game considering that our direct opponents were also playing each other. A tough game from a Guimaraes team who was very physical. Benfica managed to unlock the Guimaraes defense, and get the 3 points, courtesy of a “bomb” from Renato Sanches.
In the second half of the podcast, we look ahead to the Maritimo and Nacional games, we discuss Rui Vitoria’s unchaining with the media, Cristante’s loan, and Pizzi’s deal. We finish up by answering some twitter questions.
