In this week’s episode…
We open up the pod, talking about Benfica’s game against Boavista. A tough win, in a scrappy game, in a terrible artificial pitch. It wasn’t a stellar performance, but we walk away with the all important 3 points ahead of the derby. We talk about about JJ’s starting choices, his insistence in playing Jara, and Talisca, the lack of output from Lima, and Ruben Amorim’s injury; among other things.
On the second half of the pod, we turn our attention to this weekend’s derby, and ponder if Benfica, at its current state, can actually open the door for the first win by Sporting since the 05/06 season. We still have enough individual quality, but it’s the midfield that worries us, especially with Amorim’s injury. We will have to see if new boy Samaris will step in and put our minds at ease.
